Manufacturer of Metal Tubing
Challenge – Employees and truck drivers loading flatbed trailers exposing them to fall hazard
Solution – SpeedGuard II
Scenario:
A manufacturer of steel tubing had the need to load dozens of flatbed trailers with steel tubing throughout the workday inside their facility. Employees and truck drivers were required to stand and work on the elevated surface of a flatbed trailer when loading the trailer or securing the load for transportation. The surface of the flatbed trailer was greater than 4 ft. in elevation and the work zone required the worker to be less than 6 ft. from the fall hazard.
Solution:
The shipping manager and EH&S manager selected Garlock Safety Systems’ SpeedGuard II flatbed guardrail system to mitigate the hazard. The SpeedGuard II provided them with a flexible mobile solution that fit the variety of trailer sizes that came into their facility.
Result:
With the SpeedGuard II system in place, the shipping department employees and truck drivers are protected from the possibility of a fall in the future. Employees expressed a sense of value that their employer recognized the hazard they were being exposed to a on regular basis and took action to eliminate it.
